For inhalation through the mouth 52.1 % was absorbed into the blood.\nStudies on rats showed that for high concentrations (above about 400 mg/m3) the absorption rate decreases. At about 1000 mg/m3 it is only 27 %.\nSkin\nB. is well absorbed through the intact skin. Areas with thin, gland-rich skin (axilla, groin, genital area) are penetrated extremely rapidly.\nDisinfectors exposed to high vapor concentrations were poisoned in spite of using respiratory protection. This is evidence of effective skin penetration by the vapors.\nGastrointestinal tract\nBecause of its low boiling point oral intake of B. is rather unlikely under realistic conditions.\nFor rats which received the substance in olive oil, B. was absorbed within the gastrointestinal tract, mostly without hydrolysis taking place as a first step.",
